Oh, and getting around that space? A lot of fun, for the most part. Vehicles are abundant and useful, although the physics is a little more loosy-goosy than realistic.. Which can be fun when driving, but less so when flying an airplane.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><a href=\"https:\/\/ghostgamer.news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/plane.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1400\" height=\"788\" src=\"https:\/\/ghostgamer.news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/plane-1400x788.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4741\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ghostgamer.news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/plane-1400x788.jpg 1400w, https:\/\/ghostgamer.news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/plane-700x394.jpg 700w, https:\/\/ghostgamer.news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/plane-1536x864.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/ghostgamer.news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/plane.jpg 1920w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1400px) 100vw, 1400px\" \/><\/a><figcaption>Yeah, this was a rough landing.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Post-launch there was new content in the form of DLC, but this DLC has widely been panned by just about everybody, so I wouldn\u2019t waste my time unless I got it cheap or free. There was also a Tier mode: This is an additional challenge that unlocks new gear as you progress, getting harder and harder as you play. This mode encourages you to keep playing well after completing the main story, and is genuinely fun and worthwhile.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Next up? Let\u2019s talk about stealth in Ghost Recon Wildlands.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Ghost Recon Wildlands: Stealth sans the tall grass<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Ghost Recon Wildlands takes a minimal approach to stealth, and it works. There\u2019s no tall grass, no \u201cyou\u2019re hidden\u201d indicator, and no special cloaking system aside from something that\u2019s purely cosmetic as a bonus mission reward.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><a href=\"https:\/\/ghostgamer.news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/sneaky.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1400\" height=\"788\" src=\"https:\/\/ghostgamer.news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/sneaky-1400x788.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4742\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ghostgamer.news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/sneaky-1400x788.jpg 1400w, https:\/\/ghostgamer.news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/sneaky-700x394.jpg 700w, https:\/\/ghostgamer.news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/sneaky-1536x864.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/ghostgamer.news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/sneaky.jpg 1920w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1400px) 100vw, 1400px\" \/><\/a><figcaption>Being sneaky in Bolivia<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Well, I lied just a bit: While there is no tall grass, you can hide in large bushes, but that is more the exception rather than the rule here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Stealth here is mostly focused on line of sight, cover, stance and noise levels. It works. You\u2019ve got the standard crouching to move quietly and reduce visibility, as well as going prone for extra stealthiness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><a href=\"https:\/\/ghostgamer.news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/sneakyuni.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1400\" height=\"788\" src=\"https:\/\/ghostgamer.news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/sneakyuni-1400x788.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4743\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ghostgamer.news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/sneakyuni-1400x788.jpg 1400w, https:\/\/ghostgamer.news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/sneakyuni-700x394.jpg 700w, https:\/\/ghostgamer.news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/sneakyuni-1536x864.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/ghostgamer.news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/sneakyuni.jpg 1920w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1400px) 100vw, 1400px\" \/><\/a><figcaption>This guy is about to have a bad day.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The cover system is good too; It\u2019s not too dissimilar from games like The Division, but in this case it\u2019s an important part of stealth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All this stealth is fairly important because the game also includes some interesting mechanics attached to discovery: Reinforcements, and &#8211; in the case of the Unidad enemies &#8211; a \u201cwanted\u201d system not unlike in Grand Theft Auto.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><a href=\"https:\/\/ghostgamer.news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/unioops.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1400\" height=\"788\" src=\"https:\/\/ghostgamer.news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/unioops-1400x788.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4744\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ghostgamer.news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/unioops-1400x788.jpg 1400w, https:\/\/ghostgamer.news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/unioops-700x394.jpg 700w, https:\/\/ghostgamer.news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/unioops-1536x864.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/ghostgamer.news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/unioops.jpg 1920w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1400px) 100vw, 1400px\" \/><\/a><figcaption>This is definitely a &#8220;shitballs&#8221; moment.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>When tackling a base filled with Sicarios &#8211; the standard enemies in Ghost Recon Wildlands &#8211; discovery can mean that someone will radio in for reinforcements. Those same reinforcements can be practically infinite if you don\u2019t take enemies out quickly enough, so being as stealthy as possible is always a good strategy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Unidad are even worse: Get into a firefight with them and you\u2019ll begin to gain threat levels. At threat level one you just attract the standard trucks with a handful of enemies to hunt you down. As you gain threat levels (by not evading the Unidad or continuously engaging with them), you\u2019ll start to have to deal with armored trucks with mounted weapons, attack helicopters, and even heavily armored tank-like vehicles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><a href=\"https:\/\/ghostgamer.news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/scopingout.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1400\" height=\"788\" src=\"https:\/\/ghostgamer.news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/scopingout-1400x788.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4745\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ghostgamer.news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/scopingout-1400x788.jpg 1400w, https:\/\/ghostgamer.news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/scopingout-700x394.jpg 700w, https:\/\/ghostgamer.news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/scopingout-1536x864.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/ghostgamer.news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/scopingout.jpg 1920w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1400px) 100vw, 1400px\" \/><\/a><figcaption>Scoping out the enemy<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>All this encourages you to make use of stealth and solid tactics, planning your engagements accordingly. Make use of suppressors, and use the right weapon &#8211; or close-quarters takedown &#8211; for the right engagement range. Customizing your firearms is also important: Picking the right optics, rail attachments, magazines and more all have an impact on the effectiveness of your weapons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ghost Recon Wildlands has a relatively basic ballistics system: You\u2019ll have to deal with bullet drop, but not wind. Penetration of cover is a factor, but only a minor one. Even velocity of the round is a factor here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><a href=\"https:\/\/ghostgamer.news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/sniping.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1400\" height=\"788\" src=\"https:\/\/ghostgamer.news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/sniping-1400x788.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4747\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ghostgamer.news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/sniping-1400x788.jpg 1400w, https:\/\/ghostgamer.news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/sniping-700x394.jpg 700w, https:\/\/ghostgamer.news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/sniping-1536x864.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/ghostgamer.news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/sniping.jpg 1920w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1400px) 100vw, 1400px\" \/><\/a><figcaption>Relocating for my second shot<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>While it\u2019s not as detailed as Sniper Ghost Warrior or Sniper Elite, these mechanics make for a much more interesting game.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ghost Recon Wildlands was actually the first game I started producing sniper guides for before starting Ghost Gamer News. While you can\u2019t adjust your turrets to compensate for bullet drop and most reticles aren\u2019t even useful as a bullet drop compensator, there are some limited combinations that make long-range sniping relatively immersive. Of course, if you\u2019re so inclined you can plot out your DOPE with any reticle you like, but some are going to be easier than others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><a href=\"https:\/\/ghostgamer.news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/shot.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1400\" height=\"788\" src=\"https:\/\/ghostgamer.news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/shot-1400x788.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4748\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ghostgamer.news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/shot-1400x788.jpg 1400w, https:\/\/ghostgamer.news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/shot-700x394.jpg 700w, https:\/\/ghostgamer.news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/shot-1536x864.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/ghostgamer.news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/shot.jpg 1920w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1400px) 100vw, 1400px\" \/><\/a><figcaption>Taking a shot at shorter range is much, much easier<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Unfortunately the maximum engagement range in single-player is 600 meters for standard foes; past that and they don\u2019t render in the game world.. Unless you\u2019ve got a friend holding them for you in multiplayer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This, combined with the mostly awful reticles means that sniping is much more limiting than I\u2019d like.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Still, it\u2019s decent enough and the core game is a lot of fun despite these failings, of which there are a few.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Ghost Recon Wildlands: Should you get it in 2022?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Odds are you\u2019re reading this review because the game has recently become available on XBox Games Pass and you\u2019re considering installing, or even subscribing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Well, that question isn\u2019t going to be too easy to answer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ghost Recon Wildlands is a fun game, for sure. It\u2019s still got life left in it, and you\u2019ll see various LFG posts in various Wildlands communities if you\u2019re interested in multiplayer..<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><a href=\"https:\/\/ghostgamer.news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/error.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1400\" height=\"788\" src=\"https:\/\/ghostgamer.news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/error-1400x788.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4749\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ghostgamer.news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/error-1400x788.jpg 1400w, https:\/\/ghostgamer.news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/error-700x394.jpg 700w, https:\/\/ghostgamer.news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/error-1536x864.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/ghostgamer.news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/error.jpg 1920w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1400px) 100vw, 1400px\" \/><\/a><figcaption>As of publication this is an extremely familiar error for literally every player.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>..of course, that assumes Ubisoft even bothers to fix the online mechanics of the game. For a while now server issues have plagued the connected aspects of the game, which not only includes coop and PvP, but.. Microtransactions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ubisoft loves microtransactions, and there are a lot here.
