Splinter Cell has a rather dedicated following. So much so, in fact, that its fans even debate the best voice actors for the quintessential stealth shooter (GGN is all about the Ironsides). We hear the whine of the NVGs as we walk down the street like others imagine their phone vibrating.

So, why is Ubisoft spending so much time on random cameos and more, but giving us nothing in the way of a new game?

We saw Sam Fisher make an appearance in both Ghost Recon Wildlands AND Ghost Recon Breakpoint, and it was done well. It made sense for a little crossover, and the fan service was pretty good in Breakpoint.

Then they announced an anime series. Don’t get me wrong, I’m going to watch it, regardless of whether its good OR bad, but it’s a bit of an.. Odd.. direction to take (not that I have anything against anime; in fact, I’ve got quite the collection myself).

Now, we’re seeing yet another game cameo, this time in the form of a Rainbow Six Siege character.

Huh? Nevermind the slow de-evolution of the Rainbow Six series from its stealth & tactical roots; This just seems like “Let’s cram Sam in everything” maneuver, and makes so little sense I don’t even know what to think at this point.

Ubisoft, I’m begging you: If you’re going to play games with us, at least give us a new Splinter Cell game to play with too.
