After yesterday’s drama, we now have a real release date for Sniper: Ghost Warrior Contracts 2, plus some additional details and a gameplay video.

June 4th 2021 we’re expecting to be able to play the seminal modern sniper game, and it looks good. Take a look at the gameplay reveal here.

While a lot more dramatic than what you’d expect, there are a number of things that can be seen here.

Number one, of course, is more long-range shooting, out to at least 1km.

Number two is the stealth mechanics; you won’t always be able to pick everybody off from 1km away, so sneaking in and steathily taking down your foes is going to be a skill you need to develop.

Number three is the classic fallback of blasting enemies with your AR should things get hairy.

Of course, we’re also seeing a beautiful Middle-Eastern world rendered exceptionally well. Even the bullet cam seems to have gotten an upgrade, with a decent attention to detail on impact.

Overall, based on what has been said, we can expect the overall storyline/map/mission progression to function similar to the first Contracts game, so if you’re expecting another SGW3 open world, you’re going to be disappointed. Still, with the increase in shooting range, each map should theoretically be larger than they were in SGW: Contracts.
